Description
1926 American LaFrance Type 75 Triple Combination. This American LaFrance 6 cylinder, 750 GPM pumper was the most popular fire apparatus of its day. From 1915 to 1926 these vehicles were the mainstay of many cities and towns in the United States and Canada. The "Type 75" was lighter and more maneuverable than the competitor's giants and with a price tag of only $12,5000, departments were lined up to get one. This vehicle was originally purchased by the town of Inglenook, Alabama, which was soon incorporated into Birmingham. After many years with the Shriners, this "Type 75" was restored to a white-over-red color scheme and renamed "Peachtree Heights." The White-over-red combination was usual but not rare.
This vehicle is on display at the American LaFrance Museum in South Carolina courtesy of American LaFrance, LLC.
